Patapon catapult?

I'm stuck on the level where you have to use the catapult to break the castle. I have the catapult, but the problem is it keeps getting destroyed before the castle so I can't win.Is there anything I should know about how to keep it alive or how to destroy the castle faster?Patapon catapult?
