before i get a psp i have 2 things i wou ...

1. i have $130 to spend so should i just get a psp fat or just wait till i get 70 extra dollars for a psp slim?2.does the psp break alot? before i get a psp i have 2 things i wou ...
1. I'd get a Phat, which are cheap now. With the left over money you should buy games/accessories etc. 2. The Phat is more reliable not too break too easily, I heard the slims model makes it very easy to break by just a small drop, however even I know I have dropped my Phat so many times and it's still running finebefore i get a psp i have 2 things i wou ...
1. You can get a Phat if you want. Doesn't really matter. If your fine having an older model with less features then the Slim. But it is much more reliable. Or you can get a used Slim off Ebay, or Craigslist. 2. Then again, the Phat is much more reliable, It won't break as easily as a Slim would. My slim is fine, I keep it in Perfect Condition. (Besides the massive fingerprints, I have a black slim.) The Phat is a brick, it won't break.
1. The difference between the phat PSP and the slim PSP is far less noticeable than the one between the phat DS and lite DS. Slim is.. slim. Not much of a difference. For a savings of $70, just get the phat and 2 or even 3 games. I've had a phat for years and had no problems.2. Like I just said, I've had mine for years and it hasn't broken. Granted, I don't drop it a lot (maybe a few times) and I've never had the displeasure of watching it slam into a wood floor, but for general use, it's definately a tank.
The MAIN difference between psp slim and phat is the LOADING TIME. The phat psp has 32mb ram while the slim has been upgraded to 64mb ram , thus allowing faster loading time on games.
get a slim brighter screen and more updated hadheld and since ur gonna drop $170 on a slim i suggest getting the god of war pack or the ratchet and clank pack coming out later in the year
Slim! It has a brighter screen. Better buttons. And the battery last longer.
The slim also has a video output function that I would much rather enjoy if it was on a phat too..I've had the phat since the q1 2006 and it's been in near perfect condition since (except the buttons aren't so sturdy anymore). I have 2 phat's running fine and dropped them where I can't keep count anymore.
I'm pretty sure that the PSP Slim and the original PSP have the same screen brightness settings. Also, loading times are not faster, I don't know where one of the posters above conjured this speculation from.In my opinion, the PSP model you should get all depends on what you want to do with the PSP. If you want to softmod it and install Custom Firmware in order to play PSP game backups from a Memory Stick, play PS1 games, Nintendo 64 games, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis games, SNES games, NES games, Game Boy Advance games and a whole load of other console games via emulation go for the PSP 1000 (original 'fat' PSP). This is because you can run the 1.5 firmware kernal ontop of the latest Custom Firmware release. In other words, you have access to all Sony's features with their official firmware whilst maintaining the ability to play your backups and emulators and a whole load of other stuff (like programs to let you take screenshots, or listen to music whilst ingame). If none of that interests you, go for the PSP 2000 (PSP Slim) as this does have a slightly longer battery life. However, there is noway to properly install the 1.5 kernal on a PSP Slim so you will not be able to run as many things as on the Fat. You will still be able to install Custom Firmware though to run PSP game backups from your memory stick as well as a few other things.Enjoy.The PSP doesn't really break software side, however, it will stop working if you dunk it in some water or throw it at somebody.
uh yeah comparing my slim to my phat and the level of brightness is noticeably different. maybe that happens with all psps after age but i'd say theres a 20 to 30 percent difference. And the load times ARE different. thats a major plus in favor of the slim. like in monster hunter where there's loads of load times. just 4 or 5 extra seconds every load time on the phat get irritating. crisis core load times a noticeable different too.people who say the load times and brightness aren't different are either in denial because they don't want to upgrade or jealous because they can't upgrade. but its your money, you can get a phat if none of that stuff really bothers you. my slim was given to me by my gf cuz she never played it but i was perfectly happy with the phat. but going back to it, i've become spoiled with the load times.

i've never heard of that overclocking stuff. i'm just sayin, if you're not a computer wizard and you just get it how it is and not eff around with it, then the slim would be the way to go. I honestly don't do homebrew or any of that, but by all means you can. calm down i'm not condemning the phat. I said i was satified with it.
