I'm going on a 10 day trip to another country (vacation) and the planeride is about 3-5 Hours long, and today I'm going to the store to buy myself a game to play on the ride, so I have to choose what to buy.Burnout Legends/or Dominatar (Cheap game, and I'm pretty sure I'll have some fun playing it. )FFVII Crisis Core ( Almost EVERY review of this game on Gamespot has given it either a 10 or 9.5 or 9.0, but it's price is high, I mean I can probably get Legends and Dominator for about the same price of Crisis Core or maybe more, so I don't know what to do. )and you see, its not that easy, this game would be my first RPG and my second Square Enix game I played, the first Square game I played was Valkrie Profile Lenneth, and guess what? I didn't like it, good thing I got it for 20$ and the problem is I'm never played these RPGs, the only RPG experince I have is with Pokemon and Paper Mario, and Monster Hunter Freedom 2, which I hated. I mean, I don't know, are RPGs not my type of game? I don't think so, because I can easily drop 100 hours on Pokemon, so what do you guys think? I mean are they're any NON RPG gamers who played this game and liked it? This is driving me crazy!
Okay, I sort of understand your perspective. I was a Pokemon gamer when I first got into ''hardcore gaming'', and my friends practically shoved Final Fantasy down my throat. I played FFX first- loved the story, didn't like the gameplay. I proceeded to buy and fail at almost all Final Fantasy games (X-2, XII, III for DS, etc) after that. I loved the stories, the characters, the art.. but just didn't like the game.I also tried Valkyrie Profile and never got into it. Kind of slow and confusing, and didn't like the combat much. Also not a fan of MHF. There's basically a handful of RPGs that I've beaten and truly enjoyed (like The Legend of Heroes series for PSP).But when it comes to Crisis Core, it's truly a great game. The story is amazing (even if you don't understand FFVII), great cutscenes, and battle is fun! Since it's action-based and there isn't a huge transition from map to battle, everything flows. Kind of reminiscent of the Tales Of series, to be honest. Anyways, I loved it, and since it sounds like we have the same taste, I think you'll love it too. It's definately worth the $40, because you could play on that entire plane ride (there and back) and not be bored at all.So yeah, hope I helped! Sorry for wall of text XDtl; dr - get Crisis Core even if you don't love all RPGs, because it sounds like the RPGs/Square games you have played just weren't for you. This is driving me crazy!
Ok, I guess I'll start you, I watch some gameplay videos of CC, and I was impressed, it didn't seem like one of those RPGs where text appears...and than you fight, it seemed like one of those games that had you running and pressing buttons to attack, so I think It would be worth it. And I'm familar with the FFVII storyline, I watched the Advent Children movie, so I know the names of Characters like Cloud,Tifa,Sephiroth, so yeah, I'll give it a try I guess, but I hope it doesn't have 1 hours cut scenes that'll kill my battery, I mean this isn't Metal Gear Solid where you play so you actually GET to watch the cutscenes.

It's not talk, wait-your-turn-to-kill-random-encounter-monsters, talk, repeat. It's talk, go run around and slash or use magic to kill (which doesn't require much strategy until you get to bosses, where the battles are amazing). The whole experience is streamlined and not start-and-stop like the games you mentioned you didn't like. And yup, I only knew anything about FFVII from AC and I got along just fine! Since it takes place before FFVII, it's not hard to follow.Shouldn't kill your battery either. If you play the beginning at home (where it's most cutscene-intense), you can either play the story or just do some missions on the plane. Either way, tons of fun!
